Sustainable tourism

We serve:

  1. Locally caught fish
  2. Bacon and sausages from our local butcher
  3. Locally baked bread
  4. Locally produced cheese
  5. Local dairy products
  6. Organic products where possible

We reduce waste by:

  1. Sorting out our rubbish for recycling
  2. Putting vegetable waste in compost bins
  3. Buying in bulk and trying not to buy products that are over packaged

We recycle:

  1. Our recycling is collected every fortnight and is recycled in Dorset
  2. All our glass, plastic milk bottles, tins, clothes and cardboard
  3. Unwanted house items and clothing are recycled via our local Oxfam shop

We support local enterprise / business:

  1. By employing local staff
  2. By hiring local trades people to do building, plumbing etc.
  3. By buying local food and other products

In the house:

  1. Laundry is hung out to dry on the washing line in the summer
  2. We use energy efficient light bulbs
  3. We use environmentally friendly cleaning products where possible
  4. We use open fires and wood burners to supplement heating where possible

To help you enjoy the local area:

  1. We keep a wide selection of local maps and guides which you are free to borrow
  2. We encourage car free days for keen walkers, and the use of local buses (the CoastLink X53 is a regular bus service which passes our door and provides a partial tour of the Jurassic coastline as well as a local service into Bridport, Weymouth and towns further afield.)
  3. We encourage guests to arrive by public transport
